Fortress of Vinadio

One of the better kept forts

Travelling through Valle Stura, a stop in Vinadio, small town in the discrict of Cuneo, is highly recommended.
In the town is situated the majestic building Fortress of Vinadio, one the most impressive fortresses of Piedmont, with 1200 meters of lenght on three levels.
The fortress of Vinadio is also known as Forte Albertino because Carlo Alberto wanted this fortification to be build in a strategic position, from where the valleys bordering with France could be kept under control.
